Toyota uses TPS and a set of practices which make them resilient against any crisis; recall crisis, Fukushima disaster, COVID pandemic, chip shortage to name a few. Toyota uses these as opportunities to become fitter and stronger. In this seminar Sensei Ritsuo Shingo will give you a glimpse of some practices at Toyota, which make them successful.

Ritsuo Shingo, former president of Sichuan Toyota China, has served more than 40 years at Toyota starting from shop floor to top floor. He was involved in setting up the first Toyota plants in the US and UK including NUMMI and Kentucky. He pioneered Toyota's expansion in China which contributed to the success of Toyota during the pandemic. He is a known figure inside Toyota for his success in creating a profitable manufacturing plant in China within one year.

PDM Synopsis
A Gemba Walk to go see, ask why, and show respect is a key way to actively engage people in improvement activities.
Sensei Shingo will take you to a virtual gemba walk to the shop floor where the actual thing happens. You will learn from a real sensei how to do a proper gemba walk, how to observe, how to ask questions and spot problems in the processes.
You will have a chance to join the fact finding and problem finding mission and work on a real life case under the guidance of Sensei Shingo.
Books are good but experience is better! Join Sensei Shingo to put what you learned in books into action.

Sensei Shingo currently consults with top companies across the globe, teaches TPS and promotes good leadership practices. He is one of the most experienced TPS practitioners as he was taught by his father Shigeo Shingo in the 70s.

Supply Chain challenges have become a priority for our customers during the pandemic, materials shortage like chips, rare earth elements, and political disputes. In The New York Times article, Peter S. Goodman and Keith Bradsher write: “The Great Supply Chain Disruption is a central element of the extraordinary uncertainty that continues to frame economic prospects worldwide.” As a Wall Street Journal article notes, “Executives expect the shortages and delivery bottlenecks, exacerbated by overwhelmed transportation networks and a lack of workers, to stretch into the future.” Technology and externalities are changing the dynamics of the supply chain, and the new systems are incorporating optimization, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and process automation. The convergence of these technologies holds great promise.
This presentation describes the disruption in the supply chain and the primary patterns and methods where ASCM professionals are taking an active role. The CPIM, CLTD, and CSCP lead in the domain process, governance, and foundation, rather than the algorithms and technology alone. Best practices in APICS/ASCM using CPIM, CLTD, CSCP, and SCOR provide a foundation where we can align measurable goals to the development of new machine learning or AI systems. The ability to connect the process, data, talent, and trust will be vital as our supply chain profession advances in our digital future. We will examine and discuss a case story to demonstrate the application and approach.
