Qualifications: Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
NAPM and/or APICS certification a plus
Must be computer literate (MS Office) - knowledge of JD Edwards a plus
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Minimum 5 years purchasing experience (manufacturing environment preferred)

Duties: Summary
Coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. Work closely with production, production planning, quality, engineering, and related departments to ensure timely deliveries. This is a fast-paced environment that requires a self-starter. Must be able to work independently and be a team player.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Purchase materials as required by MRP or purchase requisitions
Schedule suppliers to maximize Customer Service with minimal inventory investment
Challenge price increases
Utilize RCCA system to eliminate production shortages
Aggressively pursue cost reductions
Expedite purchase orders as required
Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
Make recommendations for make or buy decisions
Maintain accurate procurement records
Monitor assigned suppliers using established performance measurements
Work with other departments (Quality, Engineering, Production, Scheduling, Accounting) as necessary to examine and resolve problems
Perform other duties as assigned
